Company history

The engineering office was founded in 1988 by Willi Schmidiger with a focus on electronics development.

Over the years, radio technology and customer-specific system developments have become our core competencies. Today, our team consists of around 15 employees from the areas of development, production, project management, sales and administration. We are driven every day by our innovative strength and the desire to constantly improve what already exists or to make the impossible possible.

Cobra 320S for truck lifts is launched on the market

Presentation of Cobra 320S, an intelligent, safe radio system for truck lifts at the Hannover Messe.

Expansion of the company building

The building extension allowed the production and laboratory facilities to be enlarged. This was followed by the expansion of SMD production with a placement system and a semi-automatic fine-pitch printer with vision centering and a reflow oven.

New systems for central vacuum cleaners and stair lifts

We have developed systems for central vacuum cleaners and stair lifts, thereby gaining important customers in these segments.

New Cobra 350 with a new design

The revised hand-held transmitter impresses with its fresh, handy design. In the lifting platform segment, we recorded a significant increase in production volume for the Cobra 350. We were able to acquire new customers - including a manufacturer in the truck lifting platform segment for the first time - and further expand our market share.

Cat collar with radio and GPS

We were able to realize an exciting new development for pets: a system for GPS-based localization that precisely records their position at all times and thus offers greater safety for both pet and owner.

Further development of the truck lift radio system

We have made targeted investments in the further development of the radio system for truck lifts - particularly in the wireless charging and distance detection projects. The new system generation offers significantly more safety and additional operating convenience.

Strategy development and new corporate identity

In order to increase quality and efficiency, we have thoroughly analyzed and optimized our internal work processes. At the same time, we have rethought and redefined our future direction and corporate strategy. As part of this process, our corporate identity was also revised - including a new logo and modern website.

Zinno idea check winner

The fact that lifting platforms work by remote control throughout Europe is thanks to the efforts of Schmidiger GmbH from Menzberg. For its innovative project for the safe and convenient remote control of truck lifts, the company received the "Zinno Idea Check for Mountain Regions", endowed with CHF 15,000, from Schweizer Berghilfe and ITZ InnovationsTransfer Zentralschweiz. We are proud that our long-standing commitment has reached this milestone. Since 1988, wireless solutions have been our passion and customer-specific requirements our driving force.

Cobra 390 presentation at the transport trade fair

At the 2021 Transport Fair, we presented an interim status of our new truck lift development. The Schmidiger sensor system with anti-trap protection provides reliable protection without restrictions. Redundant components ensure safety-compliant work. The main features are the guardian angel system, operator localization and remote maintenance. The system offers operating zones on both sides, measures weight and load torque, as well as crush protection and remote diagnostics.

Cobra 390 presentation at the transport-CH trade fair in Bern

Visitors were able to experience the Cobra 390 live at our stand. Those who were unable to come to Bern had the opportunity to find out about the benefits of our innovation online on our website, which was specially created for the Cobra 390.

Company succession arranged

Schmidiger has successfully arranged its succession. In August 2025, Markus Gafner, previously Head of Development, was promoted to Deputy Managing Director. He will take over as sole Managing Director in the course of 2026.
