New placement machine for SMD electronics production

Efficient production in electronics requires the use of surface mount devices (SMD). In this process, the components are sucked into strips by vacuum tweezers and placed in the correct position on a circuit board (pick and place). The dimensions of the components are checked with a camera beforehand. The machine now in operation places up to 8000 components per hour or over 2 components per second. The placement accuracy is 0.05 mm. We can now place components in the minimum size 0201 according to the EIA standard, which corresponds to the dimensions 0.6 x 0.3 mm.

The machine can be equipped with a maximum of 180 tracks, which means that 180 different components can be assembled in a single operation. After placement, an automatic inspection is carried out via a camera to ensure that the correct components have been correctly placed in the correct orientation. This prevents any errors from being discovered during electrical testing after the soldering process.

To ensure consistently high production quality, we test all assemblies 100% electronically for the specified functions.
