Positioning via GPS is now an integral part of many applications, from navigation systems in cars to route tracking on smartphones. Numerous technologies are available for localization, each of which has specific advantages and disadvantages. Depending on the application, different or combined technologies must therefore be used in order to reliably meet the respective requirements. GPS cannot be used reliably in buildings, for example, which is why alternative positioning technologies are required there.
